Inaugural Sonic "Boomtastic" Spring Jamboree
Date: April 30th, 2017
Time: 3:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M.
Location: Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center (AAC)
Cost (Bands): Free for participating bands (Bands will be responsible for transportation, lodging and meals)
Cost (Public): $15.00 ADVANCED (Marketplace)/ $20.00 at the door (All proceeds will go to the Jackson State University Marching Band)
Maximum: 12 bands (bands will be selected on a first come basis)
Objective: This event will provide high school band programs to display their musical prowess on a national scale. Band programs will receive comments to improve their overall performance.
Selection of Opponents: Bands will be coupled with opposing band based upon size/classification (i.e. small bands will go against smaller bands/larger bands will go against larger bands.
The Battle of the Bands will be formatted as follows:
- Introduction of group (at bands discretion)
- March
- 3 Rounds of Choice (must include ballad)
- Drumline/ Auxiliary Feature (1 tune)
- 2 Rounds of Choice (can include dance routine)
The Sonic Boom of the South will perform 4-5 tunes at the conclusion of the event
